Semantic analysis of verb – noun zero derivation in Princeton WordNet

چکیده
Abstract This study offers insights into the similarities and differences between zero suffix overt English suffixes involved in verb-to-noun noun-to-verb derivation. It is based on morphosemantically related pairs of noun verb senses released as a Princeton WordNet standoff file, which are annotated with set fourteen semantic relations further enriched information about affix(es) used derivation process. We compare respect to their overall frequency dataset per relation. describe semantics terms relation base derived word senses, classes words affixal argue that highly underspecified, occurring all relations, even though it manifests some preferences both expressed attaches to.

Automatic Construction of Persian ICT WordNet using Princeton WordNet
WordNet is a large lexical database of English language, in which, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive synonyms (synsets). Each synset expresses a distinct concept. Synsets are interlinked by both semantic and lexical relations. WordNet is essentially used for word sense disambiguation, information retrieval, and text translation. In this paper, we propose s...
متن کاملA Korean Noun Semantic Hierarchy (Wordnet) Construction
Since thesaurus is used as a knowledge resource in many natural language processing systems, it is very useful and necessary for the high quality systems, especially for dealing with semantics. In this paper, we introduce a semi-automatic method for the construction of Korean noun semantic hierarchy by utilizing a monolingual MRD and an existing thesaurus.
متن کاملLinking WordNet Verb Classes to Semantic Interpretation
An analysis that defines predicates for Wordnet verb classes and links them to semantic interpretation is presented. The selectional restrictions for the thematic roles defining the predicates are WordNet ontological categories. Thematic roles are also linked to the syntactic relations that realize them. The paper illustrates the methodology by providing a detailed analysis of some major WordNe...
متن کاملInterpreting Semantic Relations in Noun Compounds via Verb Semantics
We propose a novel method for automatically interpreting compound nouns based on a predefined set of semantic relations. First we map verb tokens in sentential contexts to a fixed set of seed verbs using WordNet::Similarity and Moby’s Thesaurus. We then match the sentences with semantic relations based on the semantics of the seed verbs and grammatical roles of the head noun and modifier. Based...
متن کاملA Strategy of Mapping Polish WordNet onto Princeton WordNet
We present a strategy and the early results of the mapping of plWordNet – one of the largest such language resources in existence – onto Princeton WordNet. The fundamental structural premise of plWordNet differs from those of most other wordnets: lexical units rather than synsets are the basic building blocks. The addition of new material to plWordNet is consistently informed by semantic relati...
